Carmel’s Nishesh Basavareddy Captures 2024 Raghav Ram Award

INDIANAPOLIS - In honor of Rajeev’s late father, the foundation’s Raghav Ram Award recipient is specially selected by Rajeev and exemplifies extraordinary representation on and off the court while demonstrating recent progression in ranking or standing positions. Carmel, Indiana native and 2024 Recipient Nishesh Basavareddy is showing tremendous promise as a collegiate student-athlete and on the ATP Challenge Tour. 

Competing for Stanford Men’s Tennis as a sophomore 2023-24, Basavareddy was named an All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for a second straight season. He was also named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and to the All-Pac-12 first team. He ended the season 16-2 with 11 ranked wins, reached the NCAA singles Round of 16, and finished as the No. 12 player nationally. In June 2024, Basavareddy was named to the USTA Collegiate Summer Team and selected for the ATP Tour Next Gen Accelerator Program. 

Amid posting a 16-8 doubles record as a freshman at Stanford, Basavareddy was crowned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall National Champion. He also reached the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championships in both singles and doubles and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Prior to joining Stanford in 2022, Basavareddy won his first professional doubles title in Vero Beach, earning his first ATP points and was ranked as high as No. 5 worldwide in the ITF Junior U18 Rankings. 

“While Nishesh has earned everything he has on his own, it has been a privilege to offer any assistance and mentorship to him on and off the court,” Rajeev said. “It warms my heart to see Nishesh organically emulate Raghav’s virtues, and I am eager to support his journey.”
