From Challenger Title to Next Gen Goals: Nishesh Basavareddy’s Rise with Rajeev Ram’s Mentorship

CALIFORNIA - With his first ATP Challenger title under his belt, Nishesh Basavareddy is charging toward the Next Gen ATP Finals backed by mentor and fellow Carmel native Rajeev Ram.

Nishesh Basavareddy, a recipient of the RRF Ragham Rising Star award, recently won his first ATP Challenger Tour title and is setting his sights on qualifying for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah on December 18-22. Basavareddy and Ram have been long time friends and training partners ever since Basavareddy was 8 years old.

Over the years, Ram has been an essential figure in Basavareddy’s career, offering support and advice on transitioning from junior to pro tennis. Basavareddy considers Ram's mentorship, particularly his advice on navigating the professional circuit, a key factor in his success. Ram, in turn, admires Basavareddy's calculated, diligent approach to both his life and game, believing these qualities will drive his protégé’s future achievements in tennis. Known for his calculated and analytical style on court, Basavareddy is currently ranked World No. 195 and moving up.

With recent success in Tiburon, and encouragement from notable figures like NFL star Andrew Luck, Basavareddy is determined to secure a spot at the Next Gen ATP Finals. This event has propelled the careers of players like Carlos Alcaraz and others.
